Privacy Policy
Updated: September 20, 2026
Kumykia is an independent resource about the Kumyks, the Caucasus, Dagestan and history. We sell no ads, share no data with third parties and use no external trackers (Google Analytics, Yandex Metrica, etc.).
What we store in your browser
All of this is strictly necessary: without it the site cannot remember your settings or distinguish one visitor from another when counting unique views.
Analytics
We count how many people read articles and where they come from, so we understand what matters. We record:
- the fact of a page view (which page, language, time),
- country via the Cloudflare header (not IP),
- browser and OS family (e.g. "Chrome on macOS").
We do not store: IP addresses, precise geolocation, or input contents. kumykia-device-id is a random identifier generated in your browser, not linked to any identity — its only purpose is to avoid counting the same visit twice.
Feedback
If you write to us via feedback form, we store your name (if given), email and the message text — only to reply. So that no message sits unnoticed, the editors get an alert in their private Telegram channel: it carries the name and the message text, the email stays with us. We send no newsletters and share your data with no one else.
How to opt out
Clear cookies and localStorage for kumykia.com in your browser settings — the site will treat you as a new visitor. Incognito mode is equivalent. To stay out of the counts entirely, open kumykia.com/?noanalytics=1 — this browser stops being counted; ?noanalytics=0 turns it back on.
